The greatest fear!
Question:
Dear didi, your recent post made me realize that the ego is the cause of my beginning. Now that I have taken a step towards liberation there is a strange fear of becoming no one again, the mind says- what will happen to’me’ after liberation, there will be no I. Yes it is the ego which says so as it thinks that it will lose its existence and thus the thought of liberation scares me. My question is how to get over with this fear? What to do?
Answer:
This is the only biggest fear and the only biggest hurdle to Liberation dear. Everyone must pass through it. When you face your fear, you will come to the other side. On the other side is total fearlessness – Abhaya!
Only the courageous ones can cross over to the other side. Spiritual path is not for the weak minded. It is only for the ones who really want to achieve the highest. It is not for the people who are content with the lower mundane material gains of life.
If you have that thirst for the supreme, you also need to have the courage to walk the path. You need to drown into that fear and face it. You cannot run away from the fear and get over it. The law is – ‘one can get over fear only by facing it’.
You cannot stand at the shore and keep wondering how the ocean water must be and how will it feel on the skin, or will I be able to get out of the ocean once I jump, or will it be fun or not? You must jump in to know.
Just like that you need courage to jump into the unknown on this spiritual path too!
Do you have it in you?
If yes, then drown yourself in this fear of ‘losing your identity’. Drown yourself in ‘being nobody’. Drown yourself in MEDITATION because only through meditation can you meet this highest fear face to face and manage to cross over it.
