Is Gnyana Sangha your cup of coffee?

by | Jan 11, 2026 | General Spiritual, Knowledge, Wisdom

Dear Dedicated Spiritual Seekers,

Many people approach Gnyana Sangha. Some are merely curious. Some are looking for mental wellness. Some come under peer pressure. Some come because they have acquired material wealth and now aspire to achieve a higher wealth. Some psychologists come to learn how to treat their patients. Some are sent here forcefully. Some are here just because Gnyana Sangha teachings are free [no monetary charges]. Some have no idea what they are doing and why they are here. Only a few are sincere seekers. Varied are the flavors of spiritual path-walkers.

It takes some time for them to figure out why they are here. Some are slow and take a year, even two, to realize if serious spirituality is for them or not.

Few are earnest about their spiritual paths. Gnyana Sangha is an avenue for these few earnest ones. Gnyana Sangha is not for the masses. The masses are looking for ways to dodge the suffering of life through temporary mental relief. They regard the spiritual path as a substitute for a psychological counsellor. Their seeking is for ways to strengthen the ‘I’. They are not interested in Self-Realization or Enlightenment, as that means the ‘Death of the I’.

Gnyana Sangha is for the spiritualist who is ready to face the death of the ‘I’. He is earnestly seeking the way to end the I-ness. Such a rare seeker knows that the root cause of the problem is the ‘I, Me, Myself’ attitude. He is the exact opposite of the one running away from the ‘Death of the I’. He is the exact opposite of the mental wellness seeker. He is the brave one, called Vīra by Sage Ashtavakra.

A true Spiritual mentor’s task is to filter out the spiritual cowards from the spiritually brave so that he can then focus his energy only on the brave. Anyways, the coward is afraid of the ‘Death of the I’, and the mentor has nothing to give him. It would be futile for both the true spiritual mentor and the mental-wellness seeker to engage. That precious time can be devoted to the sincere spiritualist instead.

It is a tough task to filter out the serious spiritualists from the mental wellness seekers. Hence, the Gurukul structure has been designed. By the time a seeker completes 6 knowledge sessions on the Non-dual inner journey, he realizes if he is able to stomach his power of witnessing and discard the body-mind personality illusion.
