From the standpoint of the Waker, there is no option to follow or ignore an intuition!
Dear Ektaji, if one chooses to follow or not to follow intuition while making decisions, is it part of Prarabdha Karma? Does following or not following it change Prarabdha? Can intuition also guide us through strong sensations in the body?
Answer:
Prarabdha is that karma which is already active. It is happening now. See this directly within yourself:
- The intuition arises.
- A thought evaluates it.
- Another thought doubts it.
- Fear speaks.
- Desire answers.
- The body reacts.
- Finally, a decision appears, and
- the Waker announces, “I have decided.”
But where is the independent chooser separate from this entire movement? The intuition, the hesitation, the decision to follow it, the decision to reject it, and the consequences that follow are all movements within Prārabdha. The Waker does not stand outside Prārabdha and alter it. Even apparent resistance to destiny arises within destiny.
Prārabdha is not merely the external circumstance presented to you. It includes the body-mind through which the event is known and the response that emerges through that body-mind. This does not mean that an action is meaningless. A brake may be part of a predetermined chain, yet the brake still stops the car. In the same way, consideration, discernment, intuition, caution, and action remain effective forces within the unfolding. The decision produces consequences, but the decision itself is also part of the movement.
From the standpoint of the Waker, there is no option to follow or ignore an intuition, as the Waker is part of the process.
From the standpoint of the Witness, both possibilities are already contained within the single unfolding. Nothing stands apart from the Whole and intervenes in it.
Let’s dive into a self-inquiry now:
Remain as the Witness. Bring to mind a decision that awaits you.
Know the bodily signal.
Know the interpretation.
Know the attraction and the resistance.
Know the decision when it arises.
Know the consequences when they unfold.
All of these are appearances within Witness Consciousness.
The Waker says, “I followed my intuition.”
The Waker says, “I ignored my intuition.”
‘I-the-Witness’ know both claims.
That which knows the decision is not imprisoned inside the decision. That which knows Prārabdha is not itself altered by Prārabdha. Allow life to reveal its movement. When intuition is to arise, it arises. When deliberation is required, deliberation appears. When action is needed, action follows. The Whole moves as the Whole. The imaginary individual claims only one fragment and calls it “my decision.”
Prārabdha unfolds. ‘I-the-Witness’ remain untouched. In the deepest direct seeing, even the position “I am the Witness” is relinquished. No chooser remains. No one is carried by destiny. No one stands apart from destiny. There is only the indivisible Reality in which intuition, choice, body, karma, and the universe appear and disappear.
