Can your thoughts change your karma?

Question:

I read book a book called “The Secret”. In that book the author says that whatever is your dominant thought and whatever you visualize you attract that in your life. So does it mean your thoughts can change your Karma?

Answer:

The ‘Law of attraction’ states that whatever you think, so shall you be. If your thoughts are geared to “Oh, I don’t have this, I don’t have that”. Your focus is on “lack” in life, you will definitely attract lack. You will attract dearth in life. But if you focus on abundance and are grateful for the few things that you have, you will attract more “abundance and gratitude in life”! As you sow, so shall you reap!

So does that mean that if I think about money, money, money, all the time, then I will become very rich in this lifetime or in the next lifetime? NO! There is no guarantee. You might become a watchman of a bank or an insect trapped inside a safe deposit box room 🙂

Understand one thing very clearly, your thoughts that have such a strong raaga, only create more agami karma! So you are actually creating karma!

How much ever you think of the 5 sanchita karmas that are set in stone as described in the karma video, you cannot change them. The Law of attraction fails there. Besides these 5, your raagas and dveshas create more and more agami karma. This enables you to be trapped in the cycle of birth and death lifetime after lifetime after lifetime!

Law of attraction also fails the theory that our future has already happened in some higher realm…..how can we change that which has already happened with our thoughts in the present moment?
Am I right in thinking this way?

No dear, you are trying to do that which is impossible. Wake up! Everything is happening automatically just like a written script. Let it flow. Stand back and witness it all… good and bad! Stand back and witness the mind that jumps with excitement and gets depressed with sadness… embrace everything! Witness! Simply witness! Don’t put a condition on life to change, it cannot. Just witness!
